🌸 The 9 Breast Shapes — and Bras That Fit Each

Not all D cups are alike. Breasts come in nine recognisable shapes, and the right cup style depends on yours.

Round

Equally full at top and bottom. Most cup styles fit. Try plunge, balconette, or T-shirt bras.

Teardrop

Slightly rounded with more fullness at the bottom. T-shirt, demi, and balconette work well.

East-West

Nipples point outward, breasts spread apart. A plunge or push-up bra centres the bust.

Side-Set

Wide gap between breasts. Plunge bras with a low gore work best.

Asymmetric

One breast larger than the other (very common). Look for cups with removable padding so you can pad the smaller side.

Bell shape

Slim at top, full at bottom. Full-coverage and minimizer bras give the best support.

Slender

Thin, long, less full at top. Push-up or padded bras add shape.

Athletic

Wider, more muscular, less projection. Bralettes, T-shirt bras, and push-ups all work.

Relaxed (postpartum / mature)

Soft tissue with less fullness on top. Look for full-coverage bras with side support panels.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know my shape?
Stand in front of a mirror without a bra. Look at where the volume sits — top, bottom, sides, centre — and compare to the descriptions above.
Does shape change with age?
Yes. Pregnancy, weight loss/gain, and ageing all shift breast shape. Re-evaluate every few years.
